Right now: your glum barista,

The drugstore cashier,

The man whose dog you always

Greet with a “good boy”

As you pass them on the block.

Dixon Ticonderogas,

Gold glitter gel pens;

A napkin, laptop, iPhone,

Composition book.

You’re brighter in their stories,

Prismatic, a fiery stone.
