Scene from a Window

Corvids are hanging

out together in the bush

outside my window.

I see a cardinal,

two Stellar’s jays, and a crow.

Each seems so unmoved

by this untamed wind

ripping through the dry courtyard,

this hot, soulless sun.

About ten minutes after I finished this poem, the rain came down hard!
